The m7 is the latest release to Gionee’s m series. Made by the China based company, Gionee, the m7 is a fully functional device running Android 7.1 (Nougat) on an Octa-core Cortex-A53 processor along with MediaTek’s Hello p30 chipset. Sporting a 6.01 inches AMOLED display, 8MP front camera and one 16MP + another 8MP rear camera, we can classify this device as a top mid-range smartphone. The battery however is topnotch, at a power of 4000mAh and possessing polymer cells, long hours of usage is guaranteed. Let’s get into more details. Jump to full Specs or read through the review.

To start with, the Gionee m7 sports a 6.01 inch AMOLED display, featuring capacitive touchscreen with 16m colors and 1080*2160 resolution LCD. With 402ppi and 78.1% screen-to-body ratio, the display renders graphics in high quality, games and videos are crystal clear and easy on the eyes. Multi-touch? Yup!
Comms and networks are mostly the ones we’re familiar with, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v4, Hotspot, USB v2 & OTG, FM radio, 3.5mm Jack, 2G, 3G and 4G. That’s interesting, the Vivo x20 sports almost the same display and Comms features, will be interesting for a display showdown.
Moving on to platform, as said earlier, this awesome device runs Android Nougat on an Octa-core 2.3GHz processor and Helio p30 chipset. This ensures speed and efficiency. The Mali G71 GPU is there to make sure you have nothing to complain of, images are stabilized and displayed in HD. I tell you, gaming on this smartphone is an experience you won’t forget soon.
Talk of storage? Ain’t got no worries. The m7 sports 64gb ROM, large enough for your high-quality photos, videos and large apps. There’s enough room for the processes as well, the 6gb RAM ensures smooth running of apps, especially video games.

You might be wondering why I mostly talk of gaming and video games. Let’s just say it’s one of the things I love. Gaming however, isn’t the only thing you can do with phone, photo shoots and video coverage are another of the amazing things a smartphone can do. Sporting 16MP+8MP rear camera, this device empowers you to capture ‘that’ moment of awe. And with the 8MP selfie camera, be bold to share your selfie anywhere anyhow you want. Extra features like geo-tagging, led flash, panorama, autofocus and touch focus are present to help you take even a better picture. The camera specs are almost the same as that of the LG v30, good for a camera showdown as well.
Now the most important thing, to me at least, without which a smartphone is absolutely useless, the battery. The mû isn’t lacking in this as well, it sports a 4000mAh Li-ion battery. Enough power for this beast. With this battery life, usage till satisfaction is guaranteed. Theoretically, this device should be able to last up to 48 hours on standby. Practically, I don’t know how long it will last but we’ve seen how well phones like Infinix hot performed as per the battery aspect, so you have nothing to worry about.
For some people, this is the important thing to consider, the price. But to some, this is almost weightless. Looking up the price, it falls between £300 – £400. Based on that price, this device is a top mid-range to low high-budget device. Thinking of getting one? Check Konga, Jumia & SlotNG.
