Tecno Spark k7 & k9 vs Tecno w5 Pro. Who Wins?

We all know how well the w5 did when it was released into the market months ago. Then, I did a showdown between the w5 and Infinix hot 4, the article did pretty great as well (still getting views as at the time of writing this article). The w5 is a really amazing phone with stunning features, it’s still selling hot in the market and you might wanna consider it, although we are now expecting a more sophisticated device as an upgrade to the W series, perhaps it’ll run Android v8, aka Oreo.

Tecno Spark k7 and k9 are two highly functional devices, read my Spark k7 and k9 review for the full specs and every info you need about them.

released into the new K series a couple of months ago. They are new and they are really “sparkling”. Since their release, there has been a lot of news flowing around about them, and talk of customer reports? They are impressive.

Both the w5 and the spark twin are great phones and some customers don’t know which one to go for. In this showdown, I bring you 4 rounds of hot duel between these devices, we’ll be seeing Display & Comms, Storage & Platform, Battery & Camera and finally the Price. Leggo.

Display & Comms

While the Spark, Mr k7, sports a crisp 5.5 inches IPS display with 720 x 1280 resolution with 267ppi and capacitive touchscreen, the Spark plus, Mr k9, sports a larger 5.7 inches capacitive touchscreen with 1080*1920 display resolution with 280ppi. Looking at that, you know these phones don’t sport the best display around but that’s only because they are midrange devices and also, their displays aren’t to be underrated.
The W5 didn’t do much better either as it  comes with a lower display resolution when compared to that of the spark plus, featuring a 5.5 inches HD display of 720*1280 with 267 PPI density as well. This may not necessarily make the display any duller than that of the k9 as it sports a bigger screen, its screen is definitely on pars with that of the k7 but the k9 got the upper hand here.
Comms? There’s loads of it. The spark twin feature Bluetooth v4.0, MicroUSB v2.0, WiFi 802.11, WiFi Direct, Hotspot, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, 2G, 3G and 4G with dual micro sim slots. Although there’s loads of Comms modules here, the w5 didn’t feature any less. Comms are the same.

Storage & Platform

As per storage, the spark features 16gb ROM, 1gb RAM and 32gb sdCard support while the spark plus doubles the formulae into 32gb ROM, 2gb RAM and 64gb sdCard support. The Spark features a 1.3GHz Octa-Core Cortex-A53 32-bit CPU, MediatTek MT6753 chipset and Mali-T720 mp2 GPU while the Spark plus features a clock-speed of 1.5GHz, Octa-Core Cortex-A53 64-bit CPU  and Mali-T720 mp4 GPU, sports the same chipset. That’s really cool. I’m impressed.
Talk of storage, the w5 has a say as it sports a whopping 16GB ROM installed as well and comes with a RAM of 1GB and expandable memory up to 64GB, it runs Android v6.0 (marshmallow) on 1.3GHz Quad-Core Cortex-A53, MediaTek MT6753 chipset and Mali T720 GPU.

Battery & Camera

There is no difference in their camera features, both phones feature 13MP camera with LED flash as the primary (rear) camera and 5MP camera with LED flash as the secondary (selfie) camera, with soft flash. HD Video recording and quality photo shoots are guaranteed. About the battery, Tecno decided to give the k9 more power by adding a 3400mAh battery as against the k9’s 3000mAh battery. Both batteries are Li-ion and non-removable.
No much talk here, the w5 sports just the same spec with the k7. The only difference with the k9 is also the extra 400mAh power added to the battery. (13mp rear, 5mp front and 3000mAh non-removable battery).

Price in Nigeria

Currently, the w5 pro costs around #40,000 to #55,000 in Nigeria and the spark twin falls in that price range too. The prices vary depending on where you buy and also your location. You can buy from slot, konga, jumia, outlets or vendors. Just mind where and who you buy from.

Whoo! That was a serious one, and really interesting, I must say. As you can see, none of these phones could be overlooked. Personally, I love w5, but the spark k9 really got me thinking. And what else? It’s not as expensive as the w5 pro. As you can see, the w5 would really tried, going to a year now and still almost defeat the k7 but android 6.0 is already an old software. Android 7.0 is our dear for now before Oreo is largely available.
Since the Spark twin were released not long ago, I might be dropping their showdown with Infinix hot 5 very soon, let’s find out what we don’t know. Watch out!!!
