Lenovo Tab 4 10″ Plus Review, Basic Features, Alternatives and Price

Released in July 2017, the Lenovo Tab 4 10 and 10 Plus is the latest addition to Lenovo’s Tab 4 line but more than a few devices has been released after them.

The Tab 4 10 twins were released alongside the Tab 4 8 twins, a variant with not much less feature but still below the Tab 4 10.

Sporting 4000mAh Li-ion battery along with Android 7.0 Nougat and 8mp rear + 5mp selfie cam combo, this Tab may not be so satisfying.

Other features include 8.0″ IPS LCD with capacitive touchscreen, 1200 x 1920 pixels resolution, 283 pixels per inch (ppi), Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset.

The storage is in variant, depending on whether you got the base version or the plus, you either get 3gb RAM to 16gb ROM or 4gbd RAM to 64gb ROM. It also comes with a dedicated sdCard slot which supports up to 256gb.

If not for the battery, this Tab could have been a great one. It will last for some hours though.

And now, to the business of the day…

Display, Storage and Platform

The Tab 4 10 Plus straps on a 10.1″ IPS LCD display with capacitive touchscreen on a 247 x 173 x 7 mm body.

This Tab has notably big bezels and borders, thereby giving just 69.2% of its face to the display, that’s 16:10 ratio.

Featuring 224 ppi pixels density and 1200 x 1920 resolution on a 10 inches LCD, the display is a bit of a letdown to this device. It’s clear and manageable but it could have been better than that. Consider its Samsung counterpart, the Galaxy Tab S3 (2017) which sports 1536 x 2048 pixels and 273ppi on a 9.7″ LCD.

Moving on to the platform, it runs Android 7.0 on Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset which contains a Cortex-A53 CPU with 8 cores and 2.0GHz clock speed. And for the graphics, it’s the already famous Adreno 506, seen in most Qualcomm-powered devices nowadays.

Camera and Media

For the camera, It sports a 5mp lens as the front camera, no flash, so you have to be in a well-lit environment to use it – mostly for video calls, not snapping. And for the rear camera, an 8MP lens and a LED flash fixed beside it.

For the media aspect, we have our Audio player, Video Player, Sound recorder, Video recorder (1080p@30fps), Photo shooter, Photo editor, 3.5mm jack for headphones.

Battery and Comms

The Lenovo Tab 4 10 Plus features a whopping 7000mAh non-removable Lithium Ion battery, far beyond the Tab 4 8’s 4000mAh battery.

Long hours of usage is guaranteed – theoretically up to 10 hours of usage while on 3G.

Comms? Wi-Fi 802.11, Wi-Fi direct, Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 with A2DP, USB 2.0 — Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, FM radio, 2G, 3G and 4G.
