Tecno Phantom 8 vs Infinx Zero 5: Display and Platform
Both devices have bezels and notches, really thick ones for that matter but the phantom 8’s side bezels are thinner than that of the Zero 5’s. The Infinix Zero 5 comes with a 5.98″ inches display with Full HD resolution at 1080 x 1920 and with 403 pixels per inch, LCD made by IPS. The Tecno Phantom 8 also tried matching this display but dropped 0.18″ and settled for a 5.7″ display with 386 pixels per inch. The same size seen in the new Camon CM. The other features however are just the same.
As if watching each other while manufacturing these devices. Both Tecno and Infinix mounted the MediaTek MT6757CD — Helio P25, 64-Bit Processor on their flagship devices, but while the phantom 8 has the Mali-T720 MP4 GPU, the zero 5 comes with Mali-T880 MP2 GPU. The only release for the Phantom 8 comes with 64GB ROM and 6GB RAM along with 2tb sdCard support. But the Zero 5 has a 64GB version and 128GB version, but 6GB RAM and 2tb sdCard support as well.
The Infinix Zero 5 runs XOS based on Android 7.1 (Nougat) while the Tecno Phantom 8 runs HiOS also based on Android 7.1 but we’re hoping to get an upgrade for Android 8 soon.
Tecno Phantom 8 vs Infinix Zero 5: Camera and Media
Both Smartphones come with dual-lens set up for the rear camera. The Infinix Zero 5 sports the 12MP + 13MP combo with HDR, phase detection and led flash. The Tecno Phantom did no better as it sports the same 12MP + 13MP duo with the same features. For the selfie camera however, the Zero 5 comes armed with a 16MP sensor while the Phantom 8 brings a sensor with 20MP.
The media? There’s not so much big deal here. We have photo viewer and editor, video player and recorder, 3.5mm Jack for headphones, loud speaker, music player and FM radio.
Next, please.
Tecno Phantom 8 vs Infinix Zero 5: Battery and Comms
Tecno fumbled a little with the battery installed in the Phantom 8. Although, the 3500mAh Li-Po battery will be satisfying for the average person, the Infinix Zero 5 will do even better with the 4350mAh Li-ion battery it comes with. Both devices did come with fast-charge tech though.
Comms? Considering the fact that both phones stand facing each other, it’s easy to guess that their comm features won’t be much different. Both smartphones feature 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11, Hotspot, USB 3.1 with type-C 1.0 reverse connector, GPS, FM radio and NFC. There slight difference anyway, while the Tecno Phantom 8 comes with Bluetooth 4.0 and hybrid sim plate/slot, the Infinix Zero 5 comes with Bluetooth 4.2 and dedicated sim slots.
Tecno Phantom 8 vs Infinix Zero 5: Price
Both devices were released late 2017, and they are both flagship devices. Nonethless, there is still a little difference in the price. While the Infinix Zero 5 lite costs #106,000 in Nigeria and kSh 26,999 in Kenya, the Zero 5 Pro costs #125,000 in Nigeria and kSh 28,999 in Kenya. The Tecno Phantom 8 on the other hand goes for #120,000 in Nigeria and kSh 31,499 in Kenya.
Tecno Phantom 8 vs Infinix Zero 5: Denouement
Both devices feature strong processors, same camera combo and almost the same memory features. However, if you want more battery and/or size, you can go for any of the Zero 5 twin. Sure you can expand the Zero 5 life’s storage with an SdCard. For the Phantom 8, feel free to go for it if you want the portability but it looks slightly expensive compared to the Zero 5.
