Back in March, Infinix Mobility announced the Infinix Hot 9; which was later on released in April. Some hours ago, the Infinix Hot 9 Pro has been announced to complement the lineup. The Infinix Hot 9 Play, however, was kind of released on a low-key a couple of weeks back. Making the Hot 9 lineup a trio.

Take away the colours and there will be no iota of difference between the Hot 9 Pro and the Hot 9 (lite); which in turn looks like the Hot S5. The Hot 9 play mentioned earlier looks a lot different as it takes the Hot 8’s shape and design. The Hot 9 Pro’s body is made of glass and plastic. The front is the only part covered with glass.
Its display is based on IPS LCD technology and its features include 720 x 1620 resolution and 266 PPI density. The aspect ratio is 20:9 while the screen to body ratio is 83.0%. The brightness was advertised to reach up to 480 nits.
The Infinix Hot 9 Pro comes with the latest Android version around and that is none other than Android Q. The Android OS is to be assisted by Infinix’s XOS for the user interface. It sports Mediatek’s chip – the Helio P22. This chip is then powered by an Octa-Core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU. Along with these comes the PowerVR GE8320 GPU for graphics; this GPU has a maximum speed of 650 MHz.
Unlike the first 2 Hot 9 variants which happen to have multiple storage options. So far, the Hot 9 Pro doesn’t have more than 1 version listed and that is 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM. Frankly, we’ve got high hopes for more options. This phone supports up to 256GB microSDXC through a dedicated slot on the sim plate.
Like its predecessor and its ‘brothers’, the Hot 9 Pro features not less than 5,000 mAh energy capacity on its built-in Li-Po battery. The Hot 9 play features 6,000 mAh while the Hot 9 features 5,000 mAh too.
The most notable difference between the Hot 9 and the Hot 9 Pro is the rear camera setup. Although the lineup is a total of 4 lenses on both phones, the main lens carries the difference. The Hot 9 Pro is adorned by a 48MP wide lens as the main sensor, a 2MP macro lens, a 2MP depth sensor and a QVGA lens for low light enhancement. Together, these lenses deliver quite nice pictures. The selfie camera, however, is an 8MP wide lens.
For the networks, we have GSM, HSPA and 4G while for the connectivity, we have Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n which is considered to be a rather old version. Seeing that the phone is a mid-range budget device though, this is was bound to happen. Other features include Hotspot, WI-FI Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with A-GPS, FM Radio and MicroUSB 2.0.
Other features found on this phone include the fingerprint sensor seated on the back, accelerometer, gyro sensors, proximity sensor and compass.
The Infinix Hot 9 Pro is scheduled for release on the 5th day of June. We do not expect it to cost beyond NGN50,000 in Nigeria upon release.
Below is a list of devices that can be compared to the Infinix Hot 9 Pro in terms of specs and price. Perhaps you’ll get another one you like even better.
