Design and Display

The Tecno Camon 15 Pro – like the Camon 15 – is a 6.6″ device and its body features comprises glass front, plastic frame and plastic back. The front camera however resides in a motorized pop up socket; thereby affording it a full screen display without any punch hole or teardrop present on Camon 15 and spark 4 respectively.

The phone’s rear house the rear camera setup at the top-left side in a vertical lineup with the flash light coming immediately after the first sensor. Horizontally to the right, the fingerprint sensor is parallel with the last camera sensor, placing it somewhere towards the center-top. Right under the fingerprint sensor are the inscriptions ‘TECNO’. ‘Designed by TECNO’ ‘CAMON in a vertical lineup from the bottom up. It comes in 2 different colours which are Ice Jadeite and Opal White.

The control buttons are found on the right hand side while the left hand side is empty. The top of the phone house the selfie camera socket while the base houses the 3.5mm jack port, mic, microUSB 2.0 and the loudspeaker sound outlet. The Camon 15 pro measures 163.3 x 77.7 x 9.1 mm and weighs 203g. That’s light and sleeky enough.

Now onto the display. The Camon 15 pro packs a 6.6″ perfect view IPS LCD with no camera holes anywhere. With 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and 360 pixels per inch density, this smartphone renders graphics in crystal clear images. This is a large step away from the low-end display features seen in former Tecno devices; even some recent ones. It’s worth mentioning here that the face unlock is built somewhere at the upper part of the display but not in the selfie camera.

Platform and Memory

Under the hood. This awesome device comes with a powerful MediaTek’s chipset – MT6765 Helio P35 (12nm). With this comes a Cortex-A53 Octa-Core CPU with 4 cores having a max speed of 2.35GHz and the other 4 cores having a max speed of 1.8GHz. Trust me, this is premium. Way better than Infinix Hot S5’s gear.
It runs no other OS than Google’s Android 10. Also known as Android Q with the user interface being handled by Tecno’s HiOS 6.0. Handling graphics for this phone is PowerVR’s GE8320. We’ve been seeing this on recent phones like the Spark 4, Hot 9 and S5.

The Camon 15 pro, like its lite, is released as a single. Without any variants in any respect. This single version comes with 6 gigabyte of RAM coupled with 128 gigabyte of ROM. In case you ever run out of space on the internal memory, it has a dedicated slot for MicroSDXE to expand the memory using an sdcard. The size supported is however undisclosed.

The Tecno Camon 15 pro comes loaded with 5 camera sensors in all. 1 at the front and 4 at the back.
The back camera setup – which is also the main camera has Tecno’s AI vision optimization solution sensor at the top of the line. This is the first device it’s coming with. Next we have the dual flash. Then the 5MP anti-distortion super-wide angle sensor. Next in line is the ultra clear shot 48MP main camera and right under it is the 2MP sensor for bokeh effect. Now that’s one hell of a pack.

The front camera is a single but it;s not to be trifled with. It is a 32MP sensor residing in a socket which pops up upon starting the selfie camera. According to Tecno, it is also accompanied by lighting and sound. Some of the camera features include anti-distortion, bokeh effect, AI shaping (mostly for women. To bring out shapes and curves in pictures), auto-HDR and lots more.

Network, Comms & Battery

There’s no specialties as far as the network is concerned. With this smartphone, we get GSM, HSPA and LTE. Tecno is yet to get their hands on 5G network but I’m sure we’ll get it from them before the year runs out.

For communication other than mobile network, the camon 15 has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi Hotspot under WLAN, Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP and LE, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO and BDS, FM radio and MicroUSB 2.0 with support for USB On-The-Go.

For reasons best known to Tecno, they decided to cut down on the battery size for this device. As against the 5,000mAh found in the Camon 15 lite, the Camon 15 pro comes with a non-removable Li-Po 4,000 mAh battery. There’s also no mention of fast charge tech but it’s most likely present as in most phones in the Camon series.

Tecno Camon 15 Pro Price in Nigeria.

Although we’re yet to find this device in any major market (online and offline) in Nigeria, we’re still at liberty to guess prices. Based on the features and a few other devices released not long ago, I put the price of this marvelous device between #60,000 and #80,000.

That’s all for the Camon 15 pro. See the full specs below.
